Online seminar on "How can we imagine a future for integration?" by Malmö University

Posted on 1 March 2021 by CHILD-UP team

The workshop, to be held on 25th March 2021 from 10 am to 12 pm CET, takes the future as the starting point to critically consider how the concept ‘integration’ is used and interpreted within policy-making processes at various levels.

Policy practitioners, civil society advocates, and academics will work together in the event, focusing on the analysis of the practical challenges related to this concept. Among others, the focal points of the debate will include the following questions:

  • Can we envision a sustainable future for ‘integration’ as a policy concept?
  • How does ‘integration’ affect our understanding of society?
  • Can ‘integration’ be used to help deal with broader issues of societal fragmentation that fall outside of traditional notions of ‘citizens’ and ‘immigrants’?

CHILD-UP researches into the level of integration of migrant children in Europe and their social condition, with the primary aim of providing support for migrant children’s exercise of agency in changing their own conditions of integration and constructing hybrid identities.
