The University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (UNIMORE) is the third oldest University in Europe and now a prestigious academic institution. It includes 15 departments and it is attended by more than 20.000 students.

The Department of Studies on Language and Culture (DSLC) is responsible for the scientific and administrative coordination of CHILD-UP. In 2018, the DSLC has been included among the 180 “excellent departments” in Italy for research by the Ministry of Education, University and Research.

The DSLC hosts the Centre of Analysis of Interaction and Mediation (AIM), a national network involving 10 universities in Italy and 7 in Europe, sharing interests in studies of interaction in intercultural and multilingual institutional settings from linguistic, psychological and sociological points of view. Moreover, the DSLC is linked to several NGOs dealing with intercultural education and social work with migrants and a large network of teachers and educators working in primary and secondary schools.

The DSLC provides expertise and competences in childhood studies, gendered research, in research on migrant children’s education and participation, empowering methodologies of facilitation, language and intercultural mediation in educational settings.

The UNIMORE International Research Office has a very important and long-lasting experience in the management of European projects.
