The EU Alliance for investing in children, a grouping of European Networks sharing a commitment to end child poverty and social exclusion, published on 16 th April 2020 a joint statement on protecting children and their families during and after the COVID19 crisis. It calls for two short term measures (1. Focusing on children of disadvantaged families and background in the immediate response measures and 2. Directing national budgets and unspent EU financial resources to support children and families in vulnerable situations) and three long term measures (1. Adopt a comprehensive Europe 2030 Strategy to halve poverty and child poverty by 2030, 2. Adopt a Council recommendation on the Child Guarantee with an integrated approach to resourcing, access and participation, and 3. Adopt an ambitious EU budget for the 2021-2027 EU Funding period to support child poverty reduction and social inclusion.
